Proposed new legislation includes :

The Judicial Reform Bill is intended to set up a new Supreme Court in place of the House of Lords, with the appointment of new judges by a new independent commission

The Mental Health Bill proposes a new single definition of mental disorder and a new tribunal system, compulsory treatment of mentally disordered people and the detention of people with severe personality disorders who are dangerous whether or not they have committed a crime, though no right is proposed for people with mental disorder to receive appropriate treatment.

The Domestic Violence Bill seeks to provide greater legal protection for victims and empower the Police by making common assault an arrestable offence.

The Registration of Partnerships Bill is intended to enable same sex couples to register their partnerships and entitle them to the same legal rights as married couples.
